CITY vs LEEDS

As predicted, a win by Arsenal over West Ham has increased City’s deficit to 8 points behind Arsenal. We have been severely punished for dropping 3 points at home to Brentford in our last Premier League game, this has allowed Newcastle to leap frog City on the Premier League table after they thrashed Leicester 3-0 this week. City now sit in 3rd place on the table and 3 points from this Thursday mornings game vs Leeds are now absolutely vital.

The away game vs Leeds kicks off at 7.00am (Melbourne time) this Thursday morning the 29th December, most people will be still on holiday, so hopefully we may see another good turn-out at the Imperial to watch this all-important game. This is a game which will have a huge influence on whether City go on to retain the Premier League title, it will be a real test of City’s mettle.

The good news is City returned to form with a well-earned determined win over Liverpool in the League Cup, they will need to show every bit of the same determination at Elland Road. Whereas Leeds have picked up just 15 points from 14 Premier League games, they are just 2 points away from the relegation zone. This means Leeds will be fighting hard for every point, as they did in their last Premier game, when they were unlucky to lose 4-3 away to Tottenham. The Peacocks may therefore not be as easily plucked as the form guide may suggest and they will certainly be urged on by their very vocal home crowd.

The reality is after the Christmas break there are no easy games in the Premier League and City will need to give it all they have to win this game, if they do they leave Elland Road with all 3 points, if not we stay in 3rd place on the Premier League table and 8 points adrift of Arsenal.

This is the only Premier League game being played this Thursday morning (Melbourne time), so we will watch downstairs in our favourite room at the Imperial, the front bar. Hope to see you there for City’s last game of 2022 and what an important game it has turned out to be.
